Physics Lesson Needed - Will treated water flow in and out of my auto fill bucket?

I have an inground auto fill . There is a leak in the pipe so I will be shutting it off.

The water exits through a 3/8 hole that is flush with my pebble tech. I have a saltwater pool - freshwater fills the bucket.

Will the water in the fill bucket mix continuously with the main pool water so that algae. mosquitos, etc. do not form in there?

If not, any suggestions to plugging the hole that is not a permanent plug?

Some photos might help.

Mixing in the auto fill/level bucket is by diffusion only via the connection to the pool so it is slow. Under normal conditions you’ll find the bucket is mostly tap water. Most have lids - no sunlight, no algae. You can just tip a bucket of pool water in there or a little bleach every now and then.

Where is the leak? Are you going to get it fixed?
