most of them are not very good but people have gotten some of them to work for them.. I am also color blind and here is what I do, maybe it will help you..
It does not matter what color it is, we see shades of colors very well.... do exactly what it says and mix, using something white (paper, part of the pool, wall) look at the shade you see on the K-1000 and see what shade matches on the water side... you really just want the level between 7.2 to 7.8 it gets easier to see as you go along..
I changed to the bigger comparator and it is easier to see
