Hi pros! Via SLAM, pool is clear and FC is 3, however PH is over 8.2 using the color block. With the TF Pro kit can I test for the actual number so I can enter that into the Pool Math app? Or do just use 8.2 and add acid based on that. Thanks!

Get some chlorine in that pool, post haste! For CYA of 50, minimum is 4. You are asking for algae again. Target FC for CYA is 6-8. Add liquid chlorine now to get it back to 10.

You want to be in range when you test. If you have to raise it above target, so that when you test you are in range, then do that. FC is KING! pH can wait.

Use Pool Math to figure out how much acid it takes to lower pH by .4. Add that and test 30 minutes later. Continue adding in .4 (or less) increments until you hit your target.

On PH all I know is it’s over 8.2 because the the highest measure. Could be 8.3, could be 12 for all I know. How to I test for and accurate PH when it’s off the chart?

You don't. You lower in .4 increments, testing 30 minutes after addition, until it is in range. Adjustments larger than .4, when using pool math, are just not that accurate.

You look at it as if it's 8.2 and shoot for 7.8. Add the MA and test 10 minutes later and see where it lands. It may still be 8.2 so do it again until it moves below 8.0 -7.8. Then add MA to what level you need.

So I should use 8.2 as current PH?
Yes, with 7.8 as your target (.4 reduction). Then make the addition, test 15-30 minutes later. If it is still higher than 8, use 8.2 and target of 7.8 again. Repeat until your pH is 7.8, then adjust to your target from there.

Your issue is not pH. Your issue is FC. You need to get your FC up...you are flirting with algae again. Chlorine is king. pH can be handled over a couple days.

Get enough liquid chlorine in the pool to raise it to 10FC.
