We put a clean panty hose over our basket in the skimmer( cut to fit). The amount of stuff we caught was crazy! It cleared up the small particles and made a huge difference in just one day!

FYI: The snail marathon continues...haha. CCs are less than /5 still and day time chlorine loss is way greater than night time. But not passing OCLTs. Pool still cloudy but starting to see brush head when sweeping. I ended up adding some clarifier to help filter yesterday. Checked my skimmer sock it had a gunk buildup that I washed out in a chlorine bath I made for my Polaris turbo turtle parts. Backwashed twice yesterday be this morning. Its getting there.
With a clarifier do I need to rake the skimmer sick out? Was that gunk supposed to help more in the filter?

Oof. Sounds like the clearing phase is really a dog!
I never use clarifiers so I have no advice on that front. My guess would be that, since a slightly dirty filter works better than a pristine clean one, the gunk should hit the filter. But that's just a blind guess on my part.
Stupid question - you're not backwashing too often, right? 25% over clean pressure, right?

No it's been really catching a lot of stuff since adding de and the clarifier.
I guess I'll let this round of clarifier go then take the sock out on the next round...IF needed

Try adding some algaecide. I'm not that familiar with the saltwater generator. Otherwise I would be telling you to up your chlorine. If the oh is high I'd go get some ph down, I use chlorox. See if that helps

The key is truly POP! Be patient and follow the SLAM exactly as it is written. It works, I promise. I finished my SLAM a couple of months ago and my pool has stayed sparkly. Stick with it. You will be glad you did!

TFP does not recommend trying some algaecide. Algaecide makers do not eve recommend putting algaecide in a pool that has algae. What? Seriously, read the bottle and then return it to the pool store.
The only way to kill algae is with chlorine.
To lower PH we recommend using muriatic acid.

My issue is not active algae but dead algae that's taking forever to clear up. My FC loss is not bad considering my low CYA and my CC has been holding less than .5.
I was wondering if I should get some tabs to help increase my CYA.
I'm working on dropping my TA from 240...it was around 180 last I checked.
My POP is fine its my wife and daughters that's running thin ha

Yes and No. If there's a lot of Calcium in the water, high pH can make it start to look dull. No, you can't adjust it during the SLAM. The pH test is inaccurate and reads falsely high above 10 FC.

Since your algae is all dead, you might want to bump your CYA up to 40ppm. Are you able to keep your chlorine up with just 20ppm? I would think the sunlight burn off is causing a lot of FC demand.

If you bump it up to 40ppm just remember you need a higher shock FC to maintain the correct FC/CYA ratio.
Keep up on the DE in the filter and emptying the skimmer sock.

Got in the pool to vacuum since my pool is still cloudy on the bottom 12"s or so. Noticed a lot of sand on the floor. Sucked up a lot which was caught by a pantyhose in the slimmer. About 1-1/2 cups. Suction was lost so that what made me check. Turned the filter back on felt sand hitting me. Stood in front of the return with the vacuum constantly sucking up sand. Til I finally put another piece of panty hose over return jet. And was catching sand...so I'm looking into investing in a different filter.

Sounds like your sand filter is hosed. You recently opened it up, right? Everything was good with the laterals?
I have a DE filter which is great for fine particulates but is a bit of pain with backwash and DE recharging. I don't mind it all but I know lots of folks hate the DE recharge aspect of it. Cartridge filters, if properly oversized, are a great middle-of-the-road alternative.
