pH and Water Clarity Observation

I've owned pools for some 30 years, but have only used a salt system for the last 7-8. I was having an issue with my cells fouling, and couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I also never seemed to have the water clarity I wanted. I found my calcium level to be fine, so I decided to experiment with varying levels of pH in the pool. I was keeping my pH between 7.6 and 7.8, and in the end, dropped it to 7.5. To my surprise, I was rewarded with 2 good results. My salt cell stopped fouling, and the water clarity improved markedly. Just an observation that might help other folks. Could be unique to my pool, but it might be worth a try if you have water clarity and/or salt cell fouling issues.

Sead,

Salt cells 'foul' when you don't keep your CSI a little negative..

CSI is influenced by your pH level.. Anything you adjust, that keeps your CSI a little negative, will prevent the cell from getting calcified.

Thanks,

Jim R.
