Pentair Whisperflo Lid Air Leak

So, I was working on the plumbing behind the pump, and had shut off the water lines to and from the pump. I forgot to leave the system in "Service" mode and the pump kicked on for a three hour cycle the next morning, with no water flow. I have since fixed all the plumbing, but now I am getting an air leak in the lid of the pump. I suspect its from the pump running dry for as long as it did. If I put my hand on the lid and put some body pressure on it, the pump basket fills up fully and no air is present. Upon releasing said pressure, air shows up in the basket. I have lubed the o-ring generously with silicone grease, but the problem persists. Additionally, I have noticed that the lid turns further than it had formerly, almost all the way.

Any thoughts on how best to address? What would warp in a situation as described? Is there any chance the basket would warp, or is the lid the culprit. I swapped lids from the pump I replaced two years ago, and there was still an air leak, but that was an old lid and o-ring.

Oooh. I have a feeling the pump basket may have warped slightly. But before assuming that, I would put a new O-ring on that old lid and try that assuming the lids are exactly the same. If not identical, try to obtain a new lid (and O-ring) since that's obvioulsy cheaper. Fingers crossed.

I'm going to try a new lid and o-ring, and then decide from there. I saw someone recommend putting an o-ring on the top too to generate more pressure on the lid. Right now I have it strapped down with a tie-down. If it turns out to be the basket, I guess I can move the motor off of this unit and on to my old unit. I replaced it after the motor died, and luckily kept it around.
