Last fall I installed a Pentair UltraTemp and (with TFP's help) got it working, before closing things up for the winter.
I haven't used it much this spring because it's still been pretty cool where I live. But on two occasions I noticed that if would run for several minutes, then shut of for 30s, then start running again. Today was one of those occasions, and I happened to notice that SOLAR was also blinking on the EasyTouch display, see here. The display says the water is 27C, but it's actually much cooler than that. (I'm planning to replace the temperature sensor this weekend.)
The two occasions that I noticed the problem happen to be warmer days. I can't say for sure that it hasn't happened on other warm days, I might simply have not noticed it.
This spring I also added an RS485 connection to a Raspberry Pi running nodejs-poolController. That seems to be working well.
Why would the Pentair UltraTemp unit going on and off? I assume it's related to SOLAR blinking on the EasyTouch display. Could the problem be a defective UltraTemp unit? An improper or defective resistor that I wired to the EasyTouch solar sensor? A problem I introduced with the RS485 connection?
Any other ideas?
Thank you.
