Pentair meteor filter leaks through the bottom or bottom plug.

I changed sand last June. Everything was ok. Now the filter is leaking by the bottom plug. I do not want to waste the sand. Should I take the plug out? Help needed.

There should be a screen inside the plug to retain the sand and let the water out. That is how you winterize the filter.
