I noticed my pool temp dropping - checking on the header I saw it throwing E-01. After researching here I just bought a new thermosistor and high limit switch (assumed theyd wear the same?)

I replaced the thermosistor today and it still is throwing E-01. After breaking out my multimeter I verified that both the old and the new one are reading about 11k ohms. I verified this on both the thermosistor itself as well as the wiring harness off of the control board.

This leads me to believe the control board is bad (I dont have a 10 ohm resistor to convincingly test ...).

Now for the hard part - The existing board is a Pentair 42002-0007 Rev D

Thanks to this https://www.pentair.com/content/dam...m-parts-matrix-connected-heater-update-v1.pdf I think I just need to get a pentair 461105 kit right?

I can find one locally Pentair Control Board with 6 Button Pad For MasterTemp and Max-E-Therm for just under $500 (which seems to be the going rate).

2 main questions
1) Is this the right replacement?
2) Is this really just an unplug and swap - ie connectors are in the same configuration and just need to replace the touchpad part?

Yes

Pretty much. Follow the instructions in the kit. The new board layout is a bit different.
