Hello Everyone!!
I just upgraded my single speed pump to the Pentair Intelliflo VSF!! (New Toys!!)
I need to connect the Intelliflo to my EasyTouch 8 but there seems to be a missing jumper connector. (see attached pic)
I would assume that the correct connector on the cable end would be on the board. Does this seem normal?

I also have some wiring questions. Ill get to those later!! HA!

Thanks in advance!!

Lou,

Brian has you covered above... If your ET has the built-in Salt system power board it also has several Com Port connections that you can use.

Yellow and Green wires from the pump go to the Yellow and Green pins on the Com Port (J20 in Brian's pic above..)

Thanks,

Jim R.

OK
I think I'm starting to understand this.
The daughter card on the back panel is connected to the comm port on the main board allowing many more peripherals to be connected. On my board I have the wireless controller, intellichlor and now my Intelliflow VSF.

Is that correct? (see attached pic)

Power wiring questions coming up next!!!

Thanks guys and gals!!

Now that the communication wire is attached correctly, now I have to deal with the power situation.
The single speed pump that I replaced was connected to relay #7 which was connected to jumper #18 which is the "F" button on the front of the EasyTouch panel.
Since this is a Pentair pump and there is communication involved do I need to alter the power connection?
Also I have an Intellichlor salt generator. I believe the power to the Intellichlor was enabled when the main filter pump was enabled.
Is this done in the power box or is it a software solution?

I am attaching some pics but the wiring is a bit messy so they might not be of much help. I have highlighted the relevant info.

Thanks guys and gals in advance!!

Lou,

You are using the Aux 7 relay as the Pump/Filter relay...

The pump should get constant 220 volt AC power directly from the circuit breaker.. This power does NOT pass through any relays.

The SWCG transformer should be wired to your Pump/Filter relay (Aux 7) so that only when the relay is energized will the transformer get AC power. It appears to me that your transformer is wired correctly with the Yellow and White wires on the load side of the Pump/Filter relay..

The pump/filter relay will automatically close whenever the IntelliFlo is told to run by the serial cable, as long as the system is in either the Pool or Spa mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.,

OK Jim
Just want to clarify ...
I should connect the (new) Intelliflow power directly to the circuit breaker and NOT the relay (like my old single speed pump was).
My Intellichlor is already connected to relay 7 so I should leave that as is.
Since relay 7 is connected to J18 then the "F" button will power On/Off when the software tells the pump to run.
Correct?

(Of course I don't think I have my software configured correctly yet!! HA!)

Thanks

Lou,

I can't think of a single time that I have ever used the Filter button to turn the pump on... :p

Yes, when the computer tells the pump to run, then pump/filter relay will close and the light behind the "F" button will also light.

Do you have ScreenLogic or not? If not, you are missing the best part of owning an automation system. :p

Thanks,

Jim R.

If you mean the ability to control my system with my phone, iPad or computer then Yes Jim I have screen logic!!
My old single speed pump was controlled by the "F" button. I had a schedule setup to turn the pump on and off but essentially the schedule was just switching the "F" button.
It was just a dummy pump so im sure all it needed was to be connected to power.

I'm going to fix the wiring now for the Intelliflow. Then of course I'm going to need help with the software settings because I know I didn't set this up correctly when I tried.

Standby!!
Thanks!!!

Lou,

If you have ScreenLogic connected than "programming" is pretty straight forward using your PC... Using your phone or the little 3" LCD on the panel is much harder.

I'll send you a PM..

I've attached the power directly to the breaker (see pics)

New Wiring Image:

But the screen on my VSF pump now says this:

Is this the correct spot to add the VSF pump in the software?:
Dropbox - Add pump in software.png

I can say that the procedure I used for scheduling my old pump isn't working. Turning the "F" button on does nothing (as expected). Pressing the "pool" button on the iPhone app does nothing either.

Help!!

Lou,

When the pump is controlled by the EasyTouch, the pump will say "Display not active" just like your pic. This means you can't control the pump from the pump. If you put the system into the service mode, then the pump can be controlled by the pump's control panel.

That is the correct spot to tell the ET that you have an Intelliflo VSF.. you now must set up circuits and assign a speed to each circuit... See my set up below, just for reference... (This is an old pic..)

Please look at the pump/filter relay again... it appears that the load (output) is ok going to the transformer, but it also appears that you have nothing going into the Line (input) side of the relay. You need 220 going in. You can add a new breaker (what I do) or just tap off of any other 220 volt breaker in the panel. You can even use the pump's breaker, just as long as the power does not have to pass through the relay to get to the pump.. I like a separate breaker because it allows you to shut off the SWCG all by itself..

Thanks,

Jim R.
