I have a one year old pool with a Pentair Mastertemp 400 natural gas heater. When I am heating the pool, I’ve noticed the heater cycles on and off periodically before the thermostat setting is satisfied. Is there some sort of safety feature that only allows it to run for so long or reach some sort of internal temp and it shuts down for a moment to cool off or “rest” before turning on again? In other words, is this behavior expected, or is something wrong? Thanks for any feedback!

Actually, I just noticed when it turns off the red service heater light illuminates. Any thoughts on what could be going on? The heater is only one year old.
