The inside of my cartridge filter is a lower tray, 4 cartridges and an upper holder that connects to the output pipe. I would think most makers would use the same vessel for both their sand/de and cartridge filters. Not entirely sure. If you have a local pool store they may have both on display.
I think after you buy all the interior pieces for a cartridge filter it will cost you as much as buying the complete filter.
And note that the inlet and outlet pipes are reversed between the Pentair DE and cartridge filters. You must remove your MPV and not use it on a cartridge filter.
