Pentair filter element help

Here’s the scenario: due to pool getting very funky over the past week (my fault) I know I’m gonna have to backflush several times. Backflush run for awhile backflush repeat. So can I do this without putting de back in each time? Will it hurt the filter? Will the filter even work without de short term? Thanks

You don't say which filter you have, but if you don't put the DE back in the filter each time you backwash you'll most likely ruin the grids. It's easy to put about 75% of a new fill in whenever you backwash, and that'll take care of it until you can break it down and clean it completely.
