Hello everyone, I'm new on here, appreciate all your communications to each other.
I have a question here:
I have an old 2007 Pentair model 520164 pool Spa remote, 8 station, it all sudden says: there was an error retrieving data.... could this be the transceiver or the pair, remote and transceiver, or something else?
maybe time to replace and upgrade to a newer model with a paired transceiver?

Grinch,
Sounds like you've got an Intellitouch system with the old Mobiletouch 1 remote.... does yours look like this?:

If so, your transceiver card (aka antenna) will look like this:

1. First thing to do is power down the system and pull everything off your outdoor panel's comm port except the transceiver card (we want one device on the comm port eliminate interference from anything else)... see if it starts working
2. If not, look at the LEDs on the transceiver card.
a. you should see the power LED lit
b. see if you get a flash on the 485 Link LED about once a second... it flashes when the card gets a command from the outdoor board.
c. see if the RF Link LED on the transceiver card flashes when you press a button on your remote
3. If you're not getting any LED activity on the transceiver, check for about 13-17 volts dc on the red/black of the comm port
4. If you don't get a good voltage reading OR LED activity, check the cable going from the outdoor panel's comm port to the transceiver card... if it passes a visual inspection, use a multimeter to check the continuity of each wire in the cable. power down your system first!
5. If the cable to the transceiver is good and you've got the right voltage on the comm port but you're not seeing the right LED activity, then the card is probably bad

If all signs point to a bad card, feel free to PM me. You can find new replacements at online pool supply shops, used ones on eBay, and I may have some as well.
