Pentair Clean and Clear Plus 520 Cartridge Life and Replacement

My Pentair Clean and Clear Plus 520 is beginning its fifth summer of life. Generally speaking, how long should the cartridges last and when replaced do you folks use genuine Pentair replacements or alternate brands such as Pleatco? There is a huge difference in price. I don't want to find out the hard way that the savings may not be a savings.

My cartridges are about 4 years old and I don't see any obvious problems with them at all... This may be because I run my pump at 1200 rpm most of the time... with a filter pressure of only 2 or 3 lbs..

They are no longer white but seem to filter just fine. If I don't get 10 years out of them I will be disappointed.
