I noticed yesterday that my pool cleaner was not working. Check the pump, and it is off, and very hot. I can turn it on with the easy touch, but it hums, then clicks. Then it will do it again after awhile, and during this time, the case it getting hot. I took the cap off the back of the pump, and can turn the shaft. Is my pump shot?

thanks!

It is probably the start capacitor (in the hump). You can usually find replacements at a motor shop or on the internet.

It might be a good time to consider a robot cleaner instead of a pressure side. You will probably make up the cost difference in energy savings fairly quickly.

I'm with Mas985. However, me being me, I figured this out after a motor replacement on the booster pump. So now I have a brand new motor, hooked to a pump that does nothing. I'm thinking a DIY water feature sometime this summer.
