Order of Treatment when Opening - Algae or Iron?

Hi, I'm opening my pool. When I closed the pool I had metal stains on my vinyl pool liner. I understand that to treat the metal stains you need to drop the chlorine level down to zero and then use Vitamin C and Metal Magic.

My question is - when I open the pool, do I treat the algae first using SLAM and then when I pass OCLT, let the chlorine drop down to zero and treat the metal stains? Or do I treat the metal stains first then treat the algae with SLAM? Does the order matter? Thanks!

Algae first as high FC levels pull the metal out of the water. Then you can lower the FC and do the AA treatment using a polyquat algaecide to prevent algae regrowth while the FC is low. Or you could lower the phosphate as insurance too.
