Just finished remodeling the pool at our new house and am thinking ahead to when we have to resurface the pool at our rental house. My goal for the surface would be something as bullet-proof as possible while factoring in cost/benefit over other surfaces. It's currently a white plaster pool with small connected spa and the surface is over 10 years old (probably closer to 15). We bought it 8 years ago, drained it and had it acid washed. At the time, my friend who did the acid wash said it would likely need resurfacing. The top step of the pool started chipping around the tiles and led to larger chips in that surface, as well as 2 metal stains in the floor that he said was likely rebar showing through the surface. The spa has started to discolor from dirt sitting on it since I'm not there to manually switch it to spa to clean except once a week when i go to add chemicals and clean it. The other issue is that i can't do TFP there since I can't be over there more than once a week to service it.
All that being said, I'd like to stay away from plain white plaster and choose something that might hide the dirt a little better. I went with the NTP stonescapes mini pebble and am very happy with that, but whats the best cost effective surface for this scenario? I'm really not opposed to paying more for something better, but I'm more concerned about durability and keeping it looking nice and clean.
Thoughts?
