Ongoing pH vs pebble calcification

I've been a bit more lax than I should have been with pH over the last year or so (it'd be 7.8+ on the regular), not getting too high on the CSI but overall probably an average higher than it should have been (or lower, I can't recall -- not usually out of range but close). My blue tinted plaster/pebble has gotten whitened with calcification. It's not *bad* but it's not how it was when new. It isn't bothering me really, but I have two questions:

1. What are the effects of just leaving it like this, other than discoloration?

2. If I run the pH low for awhile, will it slowly dissolve similar to how it slowly appeared over time?

Current numbers are FC 8.0, pH 7.4, TA 80, CH 280, CYA around 50 (haven't checked CYA in a month or two).

I would say none.

Along with lots of scrubbing ... it's possible. But it's a very slow process indeed. Learn more here: Pool School - Calcium Scaling
