You found the right thread (the one you linked to). In short, it’s as AJW22 stated: “High salt causing high amps combined with some corrosion in the connector causing resistance on the pin connection all causing heat at the pin.”

Doesn’t always have to be high salt but if cell is pulling high-ish amps AND there’s oxidation on the connector pins, that can cause an arc under the right conditions. To help prevent connection corrosion, I typically unplug my connectors re-plug periodically to provide cleaner connection.
 
I found this exact same issue on my board. What causes it to happen? How to I prevent it from happening again?

Keep your salt at the low end of the range 2800-3000 ppm and amps under 7.
