I’ve replaced 3 Hayward salt cells in 12 months. Most recently I installed a Hayward t3 salt cell for my ten thousand gallon pool. It worked fine for three weeks, and now just as before, salt readings are showing 1700 ppm when in fact there is 3880 ppm of salt in the pool. I must be missing some reset or recalibration setting. I’ve checked the Omni logic controller and manually reset the Salt cell to show a T3. I’ve reversed polarity a number of times. I’ve checked to ensure the firmware is current. The pool is clear for now but the inaccurate salt readings do shut off the voltage to the salt cell. Any suggestions?????

Have your cells been replaced by Hayward under warranty?
There is no calibration for Aquarite systems. The salt level is calculated based on the volts and amps the cell draws.

Yes I’ve had one Hayward free replacement. When that one went bad in a couple months of use I heard nothing from the company despite several emails. I bought a new T3 salt cell. It lasted 3 weeks before giving low salt warnings.

How many gallons in your pool?
T-3 cell is rated for 15,000 gallons and is best used in a pool of 7,500 gallons or less. It does not have the much chlorine generation before it wears out.
A T-9 or T-15 will last longer and be a better value.

A T-3 cell is marginal and rapidly depleted with a 10K pool.
Replace it with a T-9 or T-15. The larger the cell, the more chlorine capacity it has, and a better value.
Even with what you say it should last longer than 3 weeks. The problem is it reads the amount of salt wrong. It says it’s low when in fact the pool had 3800 ppm.

Hayward systems do that when the cell is failing.
Make a warranty claim with Hayward or return it to the retailer as defective.
