Old Polaris 280

Hi there, I have inherited an old Polaris 280 but the pool has no booster pump. I have played around with closing off return jets and only using one and the result is a very lazy Polaris. I do not have a problem with debris in the pool and would like the Polaris to simply sweep the bottom of the pool under a solar cover (2.5m deep diving pool) and let the filter do the rest.
My idea is to seal the filter bag opening to increase the pressure and speed up the old girl - has anyone had any experience trying to get a Polaris running without a booster and does the idea sound realistic?
Regards
Peter

I can add the following:
When I don’t run my pump at 2400rpm, my 280 is noticeably lazier. I can’r imagine it w/o the booster. (But I need to change my wheels which are worn)

With my booster running and the main pump at 2400rpm I get 34RPM on the 280 wheels. I don’t recall the range but you need a specific range from the manual I read.

There are restrictive disks that are loaded into the wall adapter/coupling . Look into this and see about taking yours out to see if that helps.

When I had a DE leak and the DE was clogging up my filter bag, my 280 ran worse so restricting your bag may not help (who knows)
