My pool was original built in the early 1960's and we are moving the pool equipment to a new location over 3 meters from the interior wall of the pool, so bonding is not required? From what I can tell the original pool never had bonding. i replaced the pump myself and there was no conductor.. other than the pump there is no other electricity being used (no lights, no heaters), there is no rebar in the the existing 3 foot apron around the pool.. Bonding is not required to bring to up to code... Had I known and understood the concept of bonding earlier this year, I would of had a conductor run when the apron was cut open to replace a fitting.. So if am I understanding this correctly, that the chances of me becoming a light bulb is greatly reduced in this scenario? And I would not be concerned with the removable metal ladders , I would gather that the fitting is not bonded either.. the link to the bulletin is below

Question 7
Does the installation of new pool equipment or replacement of existing pool equipment
(for example, the installation of a heater where there was no heater before or a pump
replacement) at an existing pool built prior to 2009, where no pool bonding was
previously installed, require bonding of the pool and equipment be brought into
compliance with Rule 68-058 1) of current OESC?

Answer 7
No, provided that the new or replaced equipment is not located within 3 m of the inside
wall of the pool or is suitably separated from the pool by a fence, wall, or other
permanent barrier.

Are you in Ontario California or Ontario Canada?

The electrical codes are different between California and Canada.
