New pool owner. Doing a lot of reading here. Slightly overwhelmed and not sure what to do next.

I have the Taylor K-2006C kit and have been doing my own testing as well as taking a sample to the pool store to double check my test numbers.

I’ve attached photos of the log on the troublefreepool app with everything I’ve done also the screenshots of the tests from the pool store results and recommendations.

The filter was disassembled and cleaned a few weeks back. We didn’t know to add DE back. So I just did that yesterday
Also I didn’t have chlorine tabs installed and just added 3 yesterday

Pool had a lot of algae to begin with but is looking more aqua color but is still cloudy

Both cya and chlorine were at 0

Not sure what my next step should be. Any advice is appreciated.

Welcome!

Good job so far. You need to complete the SLAM Process. It will require a good amount of liquid chlorine, reagents, and patience. First, start by increasing CYA to 30 ppm using the "sock" method. Reduce pH to 7.4 to 7.2 and Slam On!

Questions?

Ignore Pool Store results and advice...

Figured the slam was def in order. I’ll work on cya first which was my hunch based on what I’ve read. I’ll look up sock method. Thanks for the advice. Will repost soon. Appreciate the reply.

You'll find the sock method in the recommended chemicals link I posted above. When you have a chance, please post a full set of test results so we can make sure nothing else needs attention.

Ok will do full tests, I’ve noticed that for example my cya is so low it doesn’t register bc my test kit only goes down to 30. Same for chlorine and pH, sometimes I’m so out of range it doesn’t register. I’ll just note when that happens.

Could you please confirm this will work for conditioner cya please, noticed they conveniently don’t actually say what it is on the label

Hey neighbor. In our area I would get that chlorine stabilizer from Walmart. For the SLAM I would recommend Pool Essentials Liquid Chlorine from Walmart, or the refillable 2.5 gallon jugs from Pinch a Penny. Good luck.

Thanks everyone!

Yep I got the liquid 10% chlorine from Walmart and found the cya cheaper on Amazon than at Walmart so it will arrive overnight and I’ll get that going in the am, guess I missed the upper left corner on the package, thanks for pointing that out

Already added the muriatic acid

Here we go!

Appreciate all the feedback and help!!!
