Not sure what to do

Hi everyone. I am a brand new Hot Tub owner. My tub is an Aria by Hot Springs. Anyways, I got this used from my brother-in-law who was moving and the new owners of the home didn't want the tub so I bought it from him. Long story short. My water is ALWAYS cloudy and I am getting these black/very dark brown flakes coming out when I turn the jetts on. I called my local Hot tub store and they said to just put more Chlorine in the tub. I did. Also my pH is balanced, and everything else seems to check out on my test strips. Crazy thing is, I put in the chlorine and it is high for a bit, then goes back down to next to nothing within a day. I think there is something wrong with my tub. I don't think just putting chlorine in is working. I am concerned a bit about the dark stuff coming out of the jets of the tub. I did a bit of research and I think I might have biofilm? Not sure though because my hot tub store told me it is extremely rare to get bacteria in the tub and almost impossible with enough chlorine. I just want to enjoy my tub. Any help or if there are any products out there that you have used that I don't know about that can help. Appreciate your time. Thanks. Joe

Welcome to TFP! I would start you off on the following items:
1 - How are you testing your water? If it's not with a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit, I would make that a priority.
2 - Have you done an Ahh-Some treatment? That's a big one as well.
3 - Review the How do I use Chlorine in my Spa (or pool)? page

You follow those 3 steps and you almost can't go wrong. Nice to have you with us.

Oh yeah..... you are gonna be so grossed out when you see the biofilm debris that comes out of the pipes when you do that Ahh-some treatment. You might want to do it twice.

Welcome to TFP, Joe.....glad you're here :)
