Weirdly enough, I have not had much success scrapping it with a finger nail and getting it on paper (it seems to evaporate into the water rather quickly). But it still comes back nightly. I've tried increasing my FC for a week and a half now, scrubbing daily, sometimes two or three times, and it always come back.
I still have an issue with particles floating at the top, and what looks like dust particles int he pool (seen better at night, when the pool light is on).
I just can't seem to get it clear, no matter how much I filter and/or use a skimmer net. I purchased one of these and will spend 20 hours trying to clear it up, sometimes it works, but it always seems to come back the next day. I feel like I am missing something very obvious that all pool owners understand, and I just am clueless on.
I've held off on upping my CYA to normal because it seems easier to raise the FC levels when it's lower. I still haven't even swam in the pool yet since I've been trying to get it perfect like last year.
This picture is me skimming for 20 minutes. You can see some clear areas sometimes after, but it never ever seems to finish and get fully clean.
Here is what the pool looks like at night - you can see the fine particles that look like dust lower in the pool.
From other angles, the water looks good - so it's pretty disheartening that I can't seem to make progress on this.
Someone elsewhere mentioned I could use a sock somewhere to maybe help filter out all these particles, but I don't really understand where I would do so.
