We went away for a few weeks unexpectedly and returned to a swampy pool
I have SLAMed in the past with no issues (though it's never been as bad as this). I'm running into a bit of a strange issue. I'm on Day 3 and have been pretty meticulous about checking and adding chlorine every 2-3 hours. I've also been brushing 2-3 times/day. The water is murky enough that I can't see the bottom, but there isn't a ton of slime on the walls and I can't see any visible sediment on the floor.
My question: My filter (an ancient PF50) does not seem to be increasing in pressure, and the water has not really been clearing at all. I've been running the pump continuously. The pressure popped up a bit on Day 1 and I backwashed, but since then it has been pretty steady. The pump is running, water is flowing, etc. An extra backwash as an experiment didn't change anything. I believe the sand in the filter is old-ish (we just moved in a year ago). I've ordered some new sand and a new gasket (I'm afraid to open the filter until I have that, lest the old gasket fall apart and I'm totally up a creek). Could this be sand related? I'm not sure what else it could be. I'd appreciate any thoughts.
I have not vacuumed a ton (only twice), as there isn't anything visible for me to vacuum up (either to filter or to waste)
CYA 50
TA 95 (I know, a bit high)
pH 7.6
Water Temp: 72F
Thanks!
