Hey everyone, I’m Brian and new to the forum. We recently moved into our NJ house with an in ground 27k gallon pool. This year we opened 4 weeks ago and as of last week we can’t get the chlorine levels up. The pool is clear and we had the water tested at Leslie’s who said the water was good except for the chlorine. So we shocked and added a gallon of stabilizer. Nothing. Tested water with them again. Advised to shock. Nothing. Water is still clear but no chlorine reading. Where do I go from here? Double the shock? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome! Are you testing the water at Leslies or do you have your own test kit? Leslie’s is notoriously bad at testing so would advice getting one of the two recommended test kits.

Until then you can safely add 3-5ppm of liquid chlorine only each day until the kit arrives. Walmart and hardware stores carry chlorinating liquid/shock.

1 gallon will add 3.7ppm to your pool.
