New Water with No CYA - Chlorine Tabs

I think I'm going to try just using my Rainbow and the pail of two year old chlorine pucks instead of adding stabilizer until I get my stabilizer to 30 or I run out of tabs. Has anyone ever tried that?

TA was 250 two days ago but I have added 3 gallons of muratic acid and been aerating so I'm guessing I should be down to 180 or so when I test tonight.

I thought someone would probably ask me that. No, just enough to bring my PH down to 7 each addition. I have four fountains each with 20 or so small streams of water. They have been doing a good job of bringing the PH up after each MA addition.

I guess I shouldn't mess with trying to regulate my FC this way as the temp just jumped up to 85 two days ago and I've got family coming on the 11th and I don't want to be fighting a cloudy pool.

Get 30 CYA in it now and use the pucks to take up it to your normal target.
