Just completed a new pool in Fort Worth, Texas -- 32K gallons, Hayward automated with VS pump and (soon to be) SWG generator. Currently on Week 3 of startup following pool plaster with generic mini-pebble finish (over gunite). 18' x 40' rectangular with an 8' x 8' raised spa.

Using knowledge from TFP Pool School and the Pool Math app all is well so far. Current levels follow:

FC: 3.5
pH: 7.6
TA: 106
CYA: 40
CH: 287
Temp: 70F
CSI: +0.05

Another week until we add salt (approximately 28-day mark). In the meantime, working to slowly raise CYA toward the 55-60ppm level while easing TA closer to 60-80ppm with muriatic acid. As we said in my previous fighter squadron, "no fast hands in the cockpit", so taking things nice and easy. Basically, just ensuring pH doesn't climb above 7.8 with new plaster-based finish while also keeping FC levels around 3ppm.

Out of curiosity, notice that TFP recommends a FC level that is relatively higher than majority of pool industry. From what I've read, a FC at 5ppm won't damage surface or equipment, so guessing the 4-6ppm (relatively) elevated level is to keep a pool's primary disinfectant high to prevent problems before they occur. Fair assessment?

Thanks all - looking forward to being a part of the community.

The deep end...this is the thread that was the AHA moment for me...

Hey Guy and Welcome !!!

2 of these #s are not like the K2006 others. You have the Cadillac of testers and you can't enjoy it's ride if it's garaged. :)

Thanks! Probably a bit ahead of myself as K2006 Salt is en route after ordering. Currently testing with a less specific kit (by HTH I think) and also periodically through Leslie's water wheel store test (WaterLink SpinTouch)...

Ok, you get a free pass this time.

If it's not too late to send back, the TF100 has 2.7X the supplies of the 2006. The TF100 salt includes the $30 salt kit for $20 more. For the same money, it's a no brainer.

The K2006C (salt) is what you wanted with more supplies. But it's got too many TA and CH tests and not enough of the all too important FC tests. The TFPro (salt) is suited to how we need at the K2006C salt price, and it includes a $45 stirring device which is a must have and a nicer case. For the same money it's the other no brainer.

They all use the same reagents and we can help you with any of them, just looking out. :)

Sounds great. Ordered off Amazon so I can use my $30 TFTestKit discount, get a better kit, and have a much better starting position....aaaaand return the unused 2006 Salt! Win-win-win

I forgot about the supporter discount. So it's a no brainer of a no brainer. Lol. The refills all go on sale every spring for mid $40s. It's a one time hit for the parts you need then year to year is a joke for what it saves you. I used to spend $600 to $800 just for chemicals to open up.

Poolstored above was *taken advantage of* also. (Can't say what I really want to say with kids watching :ROFLMAO:)

Any value there or just best to use TF-Pro?
Some like their gadgets/toys but they aren't needed.

I always recommend the slam option. You'll be testing FC more often as you learn and it doubles that supply. It's also great for those with swamps, also blowing through FC supplies compared to normal.

And make sure it's the TFpro-salt. (Simple enough to miss)
