New to this... Dump valve recommendation?

We've had our fiberglass pool about a month. So far liking it, been using Pool Math to keep things in line. My only beef with the setup, is we have 1 skimmer, and then next to it another cover that has a big tube that goes down underneath the pool. In there is a sump pump to keep ground water from collecting under the pool.... fair enough. But we've also been told that when it rains, we have to make sure the pool doesn't overfill. So it rains, I run out there and pull that sump pump out of the hole and drop it in the pool instead and pump the water down until its 1" below the top of the skimmer opening, then move it back. It's a pain in the Rear and takes a while.

I thought it'd be easier to put a valve in before the filter so I can take advantage of the pump and bigger plumbing to make the process easier for both me and the wife when I'm not home.

Was thinking I could drop one in right here? I don't love that it's just going to blow it all over the ground but right now it's been raining so much and our backyard is still a construction zone.... I guess I can come back later and plumb it into something to control the water better. Rainy season has the backyard constantly muddy.

Or am I overthinking this too much? If the pool overfills, does it just run out? Or does it seep down beneath the pool? At that point would the other sump pump handle it?

Pool is a Latham Pools 14k gal, Hayward VS500.

Was looking at this valve: https://lesliespool.com/263028-three-port-diverter-valve-with-2-pvc-pipe---grey/620948.html

Why not just hook a garden hose to the hose spigot (brass thing above elbow coming out of the pump pipe?

No need to remove the sump pump from your wellpoint or do any additional plumbing.
No matter how you drain the pool down, set a timer so you don't forget to close the drain valve.

It's just slow. The sump pump is pushing it through a garden hose as well, and it sometimes takes a couple of hours to bring it down if it's still raining. I guess I was hoping to make it a quicker process so we aren't anchored here for 2 hours so we can shut it off when it's time. But again, I could just be over-thinking all of this.
