New stains along the walls. What is it?

Hello,

I’ve started noticing some stains along the walls and stairs of the pool. At first I thought it was pollen. Hard scrubbing doesn’t seem to remove anything. Adding chlorine did help a little but didn’t completely remove it. Any idea what this could be and how it can be cleaned?

Looks like some organic/algae staining. Can you share some water test results? Have you tried rubbing the stained area with a chlorine puck or if you have some cal-hypo sprinkle a little on the stain and watch it for a minute or two?

Yikes - Apparently the levels were way off.

Calcium Hardness: 225 (I added about 25lbs CH just now)

TA: 90

PH: 8.5 (added 4 cups acid)

CYA: Non-existent (added 5lbs)

FC: Don’t have drops but pool is blue and has good color right now.

Brushing removes some of the buildup but stains still remain.

I can try the puck test and see what happens.

This is the most important pool water test you need to keep your pool properly sanitized.
Fix this problem first.
Using pool color is not a substitute for an accurate FC test.
