We just replaced our vinyl inground liner. After the install, we noticed that on the edges of the steps, the liner is bunched up and stands proud about 1/2 to 1 inch. This seems like a high traffic area and would be prone to premature failure. The company who did the install came back and said something to the effect that it's an older pool and they couldn't get it any tighter.
I'm wondering if we should insist that they cut out the steps section of the liner and re-install. There is a seam that makes it appear that they can do that section without doing the entire liner.
Or, is it pro forma that replacement liners will never fit perfectly. I'm just not sure of our options at this point.
I have enclosed a photo of the bunching that occurs on both sides of the steps.
