I have been losing more than 1/2 inch a day, sometimes closer to inch. Was losing more but they found leak in return line and repaired. Now they have found a plaster crack/hole in the pool corner. They are going to replaster, but it seems there must be more here. They said sonar showed water leaving thru the crack. They puttied the leak and that has helped stop most of loss. I am marking levels in the skimmer and not sure yet if we found it all or I am getting normal evap. I have enclosed report to pool company below from leak detection. This is a 6 month old pool.

Should I assume a crack in the gunite? I don't think just plaster is what is needed? Anyone have thought? Thank you.

On 4/4, I was dispatched to the residence for a leak detection appointment. During my visit, I did a visual inspection of the pool and all equipment. I also tested with sonar as well as leak detection dye and dove the pool to inspect all returns, lights, main drains and the tile line. During my dive, I noted a crack in the corner of the far end of the pool. I tested the crack with leak detection dye and confirmed that water was escaping the pool through that crack. I then checked with sonar behind the crack and further solidified the fact that water was escaping from that point. I completed my inspection and did not note any other spots in the pool that were leaking. I patched the cracked area with pool putty which is a temporary repair. I then spoke with the homeowner and we marked the current water level. I will follow up with the customer in the morning to see if he has noted any further water loss.

Welcome to TFP.

If "they" are going to replaster, then "they" should first remove the plaster down to the gunite and determine if the pool shell is cracked and needs repair.

Thanks for the advice. Very helpful. I will discuss this with 'they' :)
