Is that off the skimmer and using hose to skimmer basket or actual hole. And in filter in this situation or waste when water rushes out so fast and gets low and then air gets sucked in.

Siphon vacuuming is just creating a siphon with the vac hose & throwing the hose end in the yard for the discharge
The pump is not involved.
It wastes water but not as fast as vacuuming to waste with the pump.

Just like this but with the actual vac head & pole attached for better efficiency
