New pool filter

I have a roughly 15k gallon pool and look for recommendations for a new pool filter.
The filter we have is 20 years old. It works but cartridges are crazy expensive ($1000).
Looking to replace the filter with a cheaper one as be barely use the pool. Any recommendations? Thanks

I wouldn't replace an S8M500. That is an excellent filter. I'd look at your pool water practices and the source of the filters, as cartridges should last at least 10 years, if you follow TFP methods.

If you are set on getting a different filter, get the largest filter you can afford.
DE, Sand and Cartridge filters are all fine.

Do you find your cartridges don't last?
Do you use pool math? if so, share your logs...like to see how you run your chemistry...
What is your budget?
