New paver patio

Hello,

I am installing a patio around our new pool that was installed last summer (6 months ago). I have laid a majority of our pavers and I realize I have not installed an expansion joint between the coping and my pavers.. before I get too far I’m wondering what my options are? Should I try to shift my pavers slightly to shove joint material down in between the paver and coping?

The sand in the joint is sufficient for where the pavers meet the coping

Do I need an expansion joint?

I've got coping stones around the edge of the IG pool and will be finishing the decking with patio stones (interlocking brick). Do I need to put in an expansion joint, or is this just when you finish the decking with concrete?
