It's not uncommon to get a little air in the pump basket, especially with the pump running at low speeds.

No vortex, just some slight rotation if I take the speed up to 1800 RPM. I did notice as higher speeds the bubbles do not accumulate...of course I just lubed and re-seated the basket lid/gasket and it actually seems slightly worse.
I had that problem for a while and never completely figured it out. I think it was my basket lid. When I really tightened it the bubbles went away.
