Hello! Finally had our plaster installed 5 days ago. Curious to how others have seen their mini pebble plaster change at all over the first 30 days or so?

We went with Barbados Blue (think they used Aqua Blue anyway) mini pebble Touch of Glass with Abalone shells thrown in hand cast. Water color so far went from deep blue to turquoise deep green as of today. Wasn’t sure what else to maybe expect?

Have others had similar experiences of color changes or is it mostly pretty set from the get go?

Thanks!!

Is your water chemistry balanced? New plaster doesn't really reflect its true color until the water is balanced properly. I remember ours being turquoise green prior to any chemicals being added. also, are you brushing the sides to filter out the plaster dust?

Thanks for the info. I don’t think the chemistry is set yet. The PB has had his crew come out twice to treat it with chemicals and said we still can’t swim. Haven’t had our “pool school” yet either.

It is very important that you know what kind of plaster start they used before we go to much further in this. Are they doing a "hot start" where they push the pH down? Or did they do an acid wash shortly after they did the plaster?

Either way you plaster/water color will not be finial until the water is balanced and the plaster is cured. It can take from 3 weeks to 3 months.

Thanks Kim! They acid washed immediately after they were done with the pebble and we started putting water in.

I had no idea I took that long thank you very much for that information!

I honestly don't know, with all the varying conditions that affect color, if I can ascertain whether it achieved an overall "final" color. I'd like to say mine, Tahoe, has gotten a bit lighter, more uniform and lost any mottle signs, and abalone looks 2x more content and sparkle, or, I could say the sun is now much higher in the sky than it was in February. Once you start swimming, though, much of those worries leave your mind. It will take a bit more days till your fill water color is where it should be.
