Hi all, I purchased a house with a pool a couple of years ago and used a pool maintenance company to service it. This year I want to try to do everything myself. I've been browsing through this site and am really enjoying, and I hope that I'll get al the info I need, and won't destroy my pool!
Right now I would appreciate if someone can help me with the following.
My current pump, pentair whisperflo 011514 (1.5 HP) made a very loud noise last year, which got progressively worse during the season. So question number 1) Should I attempt to replace the bearings or just replace the pump? The pump was installed in 2015. 2) If I replace it, from my research it seems I should get the Superflo VST 342002, is this correct? 3) Is there a difference between Superflo VST 342002 and 342001? and lastly 4) please excuse my ignorance over here, but how do I remove the pipe that's connecting the pump to the valve (please see attached picture), do I need to cut it?

WFE-6 is a 230v pump. So any pump you get should be 230v compatible. You have options.

If you wet end is in good condition, and hasn't overheated because it was run dry, I'd consider upgrading the motor to a VSP. Over a single speed, you would save money, and not have to replumb.

I have a superflo, and like it, but it is a medium head pump. Difference between the 001 and 002 is hp. 001 is 1hp, 002 is 1.5hp. Higher the better.

The waterway defender 1.65 and 2.7 and the calimar 3hp VSP are good high head pump options at different price point, but would require replumbing.

Any VSP, or even a 2 speed whisperflow replacement will save you money over your single speed.

As to the pipe, yes, unless you upgrade the motor to the Evo Green, you will likely have to replumb, unless you get a pump with the same input and output locations.

Thank you. Are you sure that 001 is 1 HP and 002 is 1.5, they are both listed as 1.5?

With regards to the pipe, general question regarding plumbing: it seems like one end of the pipe is glued in to the valve as opposed to screwed in, so if I replace the pump is there anyway to detach the pipe from the valve without cutting it, or do I need to cut it and connect it to a new pipe with a connector piece. is this common issue?

Sorry, got mixed up with the HP...meant to say 1.5 and 2.2. Though as you will see below, I don't believe the marketing.

The 001 is discontinued. You can still buy what stock is left out there. It was the EC version (e commerce).
The 002 is the current trade grade...meaning you have to buy from dealers.

The old superflo had a 1.5hp motor.
The 002 is sold as a 2.2hp pump, even though it has the same 1.5HP per parts catalog.
