I’m a new member here, with my first pool. Like most things I find that doing it myself is the best way to be satisfied with the results, and this site seems to be a great resource. I’m using the Pool Math App, which I find simple and straight forward.

The new pool has a volume of about 24,000 gallons, rectangular, with an auto cover and a Pebble finish. The project went great and I was very happy with the PB right up until they filled the pool and added (some) salt the same day. The salt density at this point is 2,300 PPM and I asked them to not add any more for the next month. These folks build a lot of pools, and when questioned they told me they wait 30 days for plaster pools but not pebble pools. They could not really articulate why, only that they have never had any problems with doing it that way.

At this point what’s done is done, but I want to do the best I can to mitigate any degradation to the pebble finish. The SWG won’t operate at this salt level, so I’m using some Chlorine. The pool has only been filled for five days and it’s taking about a quart of Muriatic acid daily to keep the PH under 8. All other parameters including CH are in spec and I have a CDI of .28. Is there anything in particular that you would recommend to mitigate the early addition of salt?

Welcome to TFP!!! :shark:

It's not optimal, but your Pebble should be fine. It may just mean that your plaster will take longer to cure but, again, it should be fine. The sad fact is, many PBs add salt right away to newly plastered pools in contravention of the NPC Guidelines and, yet, there isn't some huge increase in plaster failures.

Don't sweat it, your pool will survive. Follow the startup guide for a bit longer (45 days) for a bit of insurance...
