Hi Everyone,

I bought a house last September and have a backyard of 16 x 45 Part concrete and part dirt with weeds. I clean the dirt area and I'm planning on replacing the weeds with artificial grass. I am also planning on buying a Coleman 18' x 9' x 48" which is on sale right now for $399 for my family to enjoy during summer. I chose this pool because the size is perfect for the area I will be putting it and the height is perfect for my kids. I can only place the pool on where I will be putting the artificial grass (12' x 30') as the other part will have a small vegetable garden and a gazebo.

Is there any pool owner here that setup their pool on top of their artificial grass? If so, I welcome all advice (i.e. what base do you have for the lawn and did the lawn sink with the weight of the pool?) I will be compacting the base using a plate compacter and I am planning on using class II road base for better drainage but I am also thinking that a decomposed granite will provide a smoother layer for the pool.

I am currently doing advanced planning on how to properly maintain the pool and found this website on my search. Hoping to be a contributor to others once I learn from others and my experience on working on the pool I will be setting up this summer.

Thanks!

I have no direct experience with above ground pools but I seem to remember some folks using a foam pad or insulation board between the ground and the pool. You may want to set the grass, put down some insulation/foam and then set up the pool.
