You need to run your pump for these reasons:
To mix chemical additions (30 minutes is sufficient),
to skim/remove debris effectively to your liking,
& to allow your swg to produce enough chlorine.
Your daily testing will show you how you need to adjust the run time. If it’s not maintaining target
fc levels
See—> FC/CYA Levels
at its current setting increase the run time & dose to target with liquid chlorine. Repeat as necessary. Minimum is NOT target
minimum is HOT LAVA!
In south Florida summer you will likely need a cya level of around 70 to help protect the fc the swg makes from being consumed by the sun as quickly as it gets made. BEFORE raising cya you should ensure you are algae free by doing an
Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.
I always set my pump & swg 30 minutes apart.
Example: Pump comes on at least 30 minutes before swg & goes off at least 30 minutes after swg.
