Hello. You guys taught me how to fix my green pool and keep it clear. Welk, two days ago I bought a Master Spa. I’m hoping you can now help me get started on the right foot with the spa.
The delivery guy added a cap full of “Metal Magic” as it was filling with city water, no water softener. Here are the details and test results. I’m not sure what to do first.
400 gallonsIn total shade
FC 0
TA 250
pH 8.2+
CYA 0
it came with a set of chemicals, pH up and pH down, Dichlor, Metal Magic, Foam Fighter, Filter Cleaner, Natural Clean.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

P.S. Calcium Hardness was 300.

What he said👆🏻
just follow the guide- the recommended levels for spas are a touch different than a pool but theABCs of Pool Water Chemistry still apply.
Before u go too far you should purge your new spa with ahhsome as even new spas can have biofilms & nasties in the plumbing from after the tub was water tested & the factory.

I did read it, twice. I learned I have to add dry acid little by little and aerate after to get the pH and TA down. I just wasn’t sure I should put some chlorine in there from the start or if I need to wait until the pH and TA are balanced. The article was very informative but wasn’t very clear about what to do first, what to do second. It seems complicated. Thanks.

I had to read it five times but now I get it. I can be slow but am persistent. It’s fascinating the way chemistry works isn’t it? I’m slowly getting the TA down tonight.
I want to add chlorine but will adding the Dichlor now interfere with this balancing process of adding acid, aerating, and retesting?

no- but remember dichlor is a bit acidic poolmath effects of adding will tell its effect on your ph. just give the ma or ph down 20 min or so to mix . Also Lowering ta on a hot tub is definitely faster than a pool but no need to try & get it all done tonight 😊 chlorinate & enjoy it a bit.
