New home and pool owner

Hello all,
My wife and I just moved into our first house two weeks ago. We both grew up with pools but this is the first time in either of our lives where we are the ones cleaning and maintaining the pool. I am a prior Navy water chemist (submarines) so chemistry is nothing new to me however pool chemistry is something I'm still working to fully understand. I am sure I will be on here often for troubleshooting and advice. Looking forward to joining this community!

I get claustrophobic in an MRI, so I am not much of a submarine candidate..
