Wife bought a Summer Waves 16 x 48 above ground that was hugely marked down. Knowing nothing about pools I don't know if it's any good or not. Haven't even assembled yet. Have to buy supplies and did buy a pad to put underneath, waiting on delivery. If it works at all I'm sure I'll have questions at that point.

Welcome! For sure come back with your questions. The Summer Waves is a fine pool. The filter/pump is likely underpowered though. Many upgrade the pump/filter after a time messing with the cartridge filters. These filters can be cleaned and reused, so don't go crazy buying new ones instead of rinsing them out and reusing.
In the meantime, please take some time to read ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and Pool School, as well as checking out posts in the Just Getting Started category. Lots to learn, and if you don't go out and buy stuff you don't need after learning how to do it the cheap and easy way, you'll have extra beer money.
