chlorine level needs to be maintained based on your CYA level and the Chlorine CYA Chart. It is important to never let your FC level drop below the minimum level for your CYA or algae will start to grow. It is OK to go above target some to make sure until you have a good feel for the chlorine consumption in your pool.

Can someone explain the addition of muriatic acid. In the Pool Math section it gives me the amount to add, but there is a selection for what I think are concentration amounts. What does "31.45% - 20 Baume" mean. I am picking up a bottle of Jasco® Green™ Muriatic Acid from Lowes. I looked on the label and I don't see any reference back to "31.45% - 20 Baume". Any advice ?

That's the weak stuff. MSDS says 20% concentration. Sadly there's no entry for that in poolmath. Use 28% and know it'll come up short a little. Or use 31.45% and multiply the dose by .63.

Baume is an archaic measuring system. Just ignore it.
