New filter

Way over my head:)! Found a crack on the tank of the filter, I’m understanding I can’t repair this but how do I go about getting a replacement? Do I just buy a tank or the whole unit? Where should I go or order it from? Is there anything I need to be aware of for self-installation? Obviously concerned what I get is going to connect...

Is this on the top or bottom of the filter? If on bottom, probably best to change out the whole filter. if on Top, it may be feasible to purchase just the top. You should consider that a pool is a value to your home and any work on it should be in the interest of maintaining that value long term. Maybe post a picture.
 
The Sparco sand filters appear not to have separate tops and bottoms. If the tank can be purchased as a replacement part, that would seem to be the way to go.

Just to argue with myself, given that it's 10 years old, maybe a full replacement is in order before the next bit gives way.
