Not silly at all! Some of my best memories in Ohio as a kid were guilting my dad into an early May pool birthday party... my dad still tells stories about all the natural gas that used (storytelling inflation adjusted) :) for a few years, we even had a dome up for year round swimming.

A Dome..now that would be awesome! I would have to move my pool though as the head of the HOA was a PIA for just this little pool I'm trying to build! I'm sure kids will be making my gas inflated in May here as well. (The story I tell will be 500 a month when they are older I'm sure..lol!) See another reason for nondeep end..cheaper heating..haha ;)
 
A dome would be awesome! But like you, we had to deal with our HOA and they were a major pain! We opened this year on 4/15 and have turned on the heater for a few days already! Then winter decided to come back lol
