If you don't mind me asking where'd you end up picking up your Pentair Laminar and for approx how much each?

I got the laminars from www.sunplay.com for $589.95/laminar but I just googled the tan laminar and found it for $586 at www.poolsupplyworld.com Both have free shipping and no tax. Thats the cheapest Ive been able to find them in over 6 months of looking.

Re: New Build in Phoenix *UPDATED 3/25*

Excellent, you're making great progress on your build. Only issue I'm having right now is I went over budget by about $5K due to unplanned issues and addons that I put in after the fact (the price you pay for doing a build your own pool route since you can change on the fly haha).

Sunplay is the same place we used when we bought our equipment, couldn't get the wife to buy off on the laminars due to the price tag O.O lol

The guy we were working with said the artistic pavers (brand name) were more expensive than travertine. But, like someone else said, there are also different grades of travertine so some probably cost more.

Same with my PB. My travertive was $8 and Shellock by Artistic was $9.50. That doesn't necessarily reflect a cost difference. Maybe they just wanted to push the travertine.

Re: New Build in Phoenix *UPDATED 3/25*

I'm in AZ too and I was quoted $11 for artistic and $8 for travertine. The claim for Artistic was man made, so safe by my salt pool and cooler than travertine. With 1500 sq. ft. of decking we went w/travertine.

May I ask who you're planning on going with for your pebble interior (assuming it's pebble)? We're trying to find a good contractor for a good price :).

So far its Prado and Sons for the pebbletec/Pebblesheen brand (623 930-7430). They are probably going to do my tile too. The only other contractor that does the pebbletec brand in the valley is cal plastering (602 267-8059). I have numbers for a couple of people that do the Stonescapes regular and mini pebble brand if you want that too.

Awesome, I gave them both a call to see what type of pricing they could give us. My concern is the warranty they both provide. And of course the estimate itself :). Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on why you choose one or the other (maybe it's something I forgot to consider etc.). Thanks again!

CDC does Stonescapes mini pebble and gives a 10 year warranty Pebbletec installers only give a 5 year warranty, but Im more concerned with the quality of how my pebble will look when its finished. I am going for Ocean Blue Pebble sheen, Mini-pebble has a similar looking product but doesnt really look the same. Theres a thread in here somewhere that talks about this very topic, ill try and find it and post the link.

Re: New Build in Phoenix *UPDATED 4/20/13*

Just ordered a Dolphin Supreme M4 from poolproducts4less.com I have been looking for weeks since epic pool supply quit selling it online. Found it for 1034.00 with free s/h if anyone is interested.

Re: New Build in Phoenix *UPDATED 4/20/13*

I was just going to ask why you decided on the Dolphin M4 versus the Blue Diamond, I heard the support from Maytronics is less than steller :(. Your thoughts are appreciated!

Yea with regards to the Pebble Sheen versus Mini-Pebble (going with CDC we think right now). The 10 year labor/materials warranty is worth it for us, checked out the colors we're looking at their Aqua Blue versus Acapolco Blue (I just want really blue water, no greenish tint).

If I'm going to pay an extra 1500 for a pool surface my wife and I thought it's better to go with a 10 year than 5 year (they should stick by their product right?)

Re: New Build in Phoenix *UPDATED 4/20/13*

Well Crud!!! Lost all my grotto build video footage while I was editing! All I got left are these stills. As you can see, they placed large boulders at the bottom for a base, then smaller rock on top. Something you might want to take note of is the placement of the base rocks, I had them give me 6-8 inches of room on the bond beam to allow for elbows, drinks, etc. Also, if you plan on having misters, electric, or speaker wires run inside the grotto, then you need to lay some conduit in the mortar as it is getting built. It beats having to drill holes once the build is completed.
